Whenever you make a transaction, the merchant "authorizes" the transaction amount to confirm your card is valid and you have enough balance in your account. The authorization hold happens instantly after you make a transaction and is immediately visible in the Neat App.
For normal transactions, the merchant will settle your payment in 1-3 days when the funds actually transfer to the merchant.
If the merchant does not claim or settle the amount, the authorization hold (freeze amount) will be automatically released in 40 days for amounts above HK$100 and in 10 days for amounts below HK$100. This happens if you, for example, link your card to a service such as iTunes, where the merchant authorizes a small amount to check whether your card is valid but does not settle the amount. Please contact us if you want to check whether a transaction is an authorization hold or has already been settled.
